Today's lesson, Racism. If you see something written here that you’ve said or done, use it as an opportunity. Take it as a wake up call and make the decision to grow, change and be conscious of your own privilege. Remember, I am not a speaker for the entirety of a people.
Catching Elephant is a theme by Andy Taylor
I totally get your edgy humor. It’s reminiscent of the good ole 1700’s. Let’s be honest, nothing says “Edgy” like maintaining the status quo! Don’t get me wrong though, I am not going to go into some well thought out, logical diatribe about why you and everything you represent is wrong. No, I would like to take this opportunity to let you know that in order to further your cause, you should think about changing one or two things about your ongoing rallies and marches. After all, if everyone isn’t doing it, you won’t want to either!
Let’s start with something basic. I know that you say that people “Shouldn’t care” about racism, sexism, homophobia or any of a myriad of other icky social justicy type things. The thing is, when you write post after post about it, it proves that YOU care. Oops! Here’s where it get’s tricky- (don’t worry, I’ll talk slowly) Okay, so you think it’s ridiculous that people are mad about, let’s say, racism? Yet, you are mad that people are mad? At the very least, racism is a bad thing, right? I mean, you are angry about anger.
No! No! I get it. People are to sensitive and political correctness is the worst thing in history. Yes, I totally understand your point. Except, um…you are “Sensitive” about people’s sensitivity? That kind of makes you look…well, ya know, like a…[Fill in the ableist slur of your choice]!
Okay, along this same line, dedicating your entire blog to the ucky social justice folk? Oh dear, it kind of, well, I mean…how do I say this? You have literally built a shrine to us. You “Hate” us so much that we have become the center of your universe? I know, I know, coming from someone named RacismSchool, it sounds a little off. Don’t worry, I’ll break down that difference for you. You see, people like me, people that fall into the “Decency matters” category, we tend to want to use our time to better the world in some way. I know this is somewhat confusing because you seem to be stuck in some land of the lost era. Explaining why certain things a person might say or do could be harmful to another is part of a progression. A movement forward, if you will. While your obsession with stopping all things peaceful is simply, tragic, weak willed and thoroughly old hat. Plus, it’s the icky SJ bloggers who are going against the grain.
Oh! Um…”Against the grain” means that we don’t do things that are considered the norm, that maintain the status quo or that is looked at as being easy. (I wanted to clear that up for those bigots that are confusedly using “Edgy” as their descriptor.)
Now, as for the “Hate follow.” Also, totes mcgoates edgy! It actually tells me and everyone else that your life is so easy that you seek out people that make you mad and you obsessively follow their every movement so that you can….be mad?
That seems to be what it all boils down to. You’re bored and have everything handed to you on a silver platter so…why not harass people and make yourself angry in the process? You are a beacon of plain. The poster child for been there, done that. Secretly, I’m jealous. I wish I could have your tenacity for being exactly like everyone else. Being one of the crowd is such a difficult thing to do, isn’t it? So edgy!
thinking always impresses me. This...true!!! like, if
