Today's lesson, Racism. If you see something written here that you’ve said or done, use it as an opportunity. Take it as a wake up call and make the decision to grow, change and be conscious of your own privilege. Remember, I am not a speaker for the entirety of a people. Use this blog as a reference tool, not as the one and only view on the topic.

There were several questions surrounding the “Rethinking Equality” post. There is one in particular that I would like to address now.
Someone wrote to me asking if they were understanding me correctly. The person made an analogy that likened equality to “The cool kids table.” They asked if I was saying that those we are trying to be equal to are the people at the cool kids table and if what I wanted was for there to be no cool kids table and for everyone to have shared tables where no one was “Cool” but we all had enough.
No. This is not what I was saying. However, I think the person’s analogy is spot on for the current idea of “Fighting for equality.” Which, has become my entire problem with “Equality.”
Earth is a hierarchy. It will always be. There will always be some group in power. They will always abuse their power and people will always suffer for it. Power and money are the goals of many. The entire point of having power is so that you, the powerful, can rise above while you, the powerful, purposefully hold others down.
In order to have this magical, mystical “Equality” that would have to end. In order for it to end, every single person in power would have to simultaneously give up the power that they have either had their entire lives or worked their entire lives to achieve. This will not happen. Not ever.
The point of the post was not to stop fighting. It was to refocus our strategies, our language and our goals. A huge problem with the “Fight for equality” is the target audience. We are looking to achieve an “Equality” that we should be working to shun.
