Today's lesson, Racism. If you see something written here that you’ve said or done, use it as an opportunity. Take it as a wake up call and make the decision to grow, change and be conscious of your own privilege. Remember, I am not a speaker for the entirety of a people.
Catching Elephant is a theme by Andy Taylor
Each year, on this day, since 2001, it seems to be more and more angry. Not more and more distant. Not more and more healed. Not more and more of a horrible tragedy that we all made it through together. No, each year it becomes bigger and more of a reason to hate someone who wears an article of clothing on their head that you don’t wear. More importantly, that you don’t understand. It’s more of a reason to hate that brown color of skin that you know isn’t Black and that has an accent that you know isn’t Latin@ so the only thing that could leave is Muslim. Never forget, all Muslims look the same. It’s this “Sameness” that makes them the worlds biggest enemy. They are all alike. No, they haven’t killed the most people. Still, they are the most violent? No, they haven’t been the biggest terrorists of our time. Still, they are the ONLY terrorists. They should go back to their own country. Unlike you, the “Native” white guy. Unlike you, the “Native” Asian guy. Unlike you, the “Native” Black guy. Unlike you, the “Native” Latino guy. Yes, this 9/11, hate your fellow American. Rest assured, the only Muslim in the room is the one who looks all Muslimy.
