Today's lesson, Racism. If you see something written here that you’ve said or done, use it as an opportunity. Take it as a wake up call and make the decision to grow, change and be conscious of your own privilege. Remember, I am not a speaker for the entirety of a people.

The “When” is Huge (Non-Ally)

When you speak up is as big a sign of who you are, as what you actually say.

I’ve mentioned before that when a person says something racist on a post they’ve reblogged, I often go look at their page. If your page is all pictures or silly stuff and the one thing you’ve posted is something race related and your reply to it is racist, that says SO MUCH about you as a person.

You don’t talk about anything usually but the one thing you DO pipe up for is THIS? Plus, it’s to say something horrible and racist?

Over the past two weeks I have been digging a little more. Usually when someone says something racist, I’ll check out their page and see if something else there could possibly lead me to believe that this is a person who could learn or if this is a person who is just a shit human being. Usually I would just look at a page or two. Recently, I’ve gone a little deeper. I would go back at least five pages or more.

I wonder if some of these people know how much their blog says about them. For instance, a blog that has five straight pages of cartoon pictures and this ONE post that they wrote something on, yeah I see you. This is actually really common. Then, there are the ones who do actually post stuff but it will be very specific. Like they will be part of a fandom and their blog is page after page of this one thing and then blamo, a racist rant.

Well, your posts are equally a sign of your true self. No, I would never say that you can tell who a person is or what a person has gone through based solely on their blog. However, those that say nothing sound REALLY LOUD when they finally speak. Your racist rant, yeah that was loud as shit. Not only is it loud, it stands out like a sore thumb against everything else you post.

No, your blog doesn’t tell me who you are as a person but…your blog tells me who you are as a person. Never forget we can see you.
