All of this. I’m tired of the white girls who think ‘dreading’ their hair is so hip and trendy and rebellious and shows how nu-wavey they are. The ones who love dreads on a white boy but not a Black man. The ones who think it’s all about being dirty and hippie-like and just being carefree, man! Nah. It is so much more. It IS a symbol. Would you style your hair as the Jewish do with the two curls on the side of their hair? No? Maybe because if you’re not Jewish, you know it isn’t right to copy/mock them, right? So why not the same consideration for locs?
