I go to his shrine often with my father and we talk to one of Ramarley’s distant relatives who goes there every night to relight the candles that blow out because of the wind. It’s a really heartbreaking experience.
Oh goodness, knowing that this is a real live person to you makes this even worse. Why is this story relegated to some small time new outlet? It is so not okay.

White supremacist media can only feel so much hype for the tragedies of people of color. At the end of the day, Ramarley was just another nigger who got what was coming to him. But my family and his family are pretty connected. I wish I knew him.
