Today's lesson, Racism. If you see something written here that you’ve said or done, use it as an opportunity. Take it as a wake up call and make the decision to grow, change and be conscious of your own privilege. Remember, I am not a speaker for the entirety of a people. Use this blog as a reference tool, not as the one and only view on the topic.

Simply driving a car can be a threatening act if you are black.
The jokes you’ve heard about police brutality and black people being pulled over for being black are all true. When I went in search of articles I could link you to, I was heartbroken at how many I actually found. Not because I didn’t already know it was true but because there is so much information and actual proof of this and no one outside of the community seems to see it as a problem.
I am only going to link a few articles but if you have even the slightest doubt, I strongly encourage you to do a simple google search of your own. The information is there, unfortunately it’s just not something enough people care about.
I was able to find articles that covered nationwide statistics but I am going to link specifically to a couple of different areas so that you can see that it isn’t just happening under the arbitrary umbrella of “Nation wide.”
These aren’t jokes. This is real life. Every day. Every single day. Be aware.
